The 5th annual 5k Fun Walk was held to raise money for the TPA Scholarship Trust that provides grants to low income deaf and hard of hearing individuals across the country.
There were heavy rains on Thursday, so we reviewed the walking path on Friday and found about 12” of standing water on parts of the walking trail around the lake. We decided to hold the walk anyway. On Saturday morning before the walk we reviewed the trail again and found about 6” of water on some parts of the trail. We had to tell participants they would have to walk off the path around the flooded areas.
The event was a success! Our face painter was a big help, painting faces free of charge and giving us time to talk to their parents. Our sign language interpreter spent time teaching children and their parents sign language. Donations collected by the Minnesota Division, Post AB were over $1,200. Many of our volunteers are in the photograph shown.
