Members of Post W of the Pennsylvania Division of the Travelers Protective Association of America (TPA) recently held their annual dinner to present the Police Officer of the Year award. A 13-year Army veteran, Pennsylvania State Trooper Ernest J. Capobianco was presented with the award for his heroic actions to protect civilians and another officer from an armed gunman. Also honored were three deputy sheriffs who received Life Saving awards. The three were crucial in stopping a murder suspect who had led police on a high-speed chase. Marie McGee presented the award, and Helen Mayer introduced the evening’s speaker, Lycoming County Judge Joy R. McCoy. Post W was recognized for their ceremony in the Williamsport Sun Gazette.
