In celebration of Fire Prevention Week, Dwight Spangler, Deputy Chief and Fire Marshall of the South Boston Fire Department was the speaker at the October meeting. Spangler spoke on the duties of a Fire Marshall. He discussed many ways to prevent fires and actions to take if a fire occurs in a home or business. Spangler also presented an interesting history of the major fires that destroyed town business over the past century.
