Lily was identified at birth with a profound bilateral hearing loss. She started wearing her first hearing aids when she was 3 months old. Lily made tremendous progress through the use of her hearing aids until the age of 4. At that point, Lily was in preschool, and struggling to follow along with her classmates. Listening and speech were very difficult for her. She received her first cochlear implant when she was 4 years old and her second implant when she was 5.
Lily’s favorite subjects are reading and math. She loves acting out stories with her classmates, playing tennis, and swimming.• Lily’s favorite subjects are reading and math. She loves acting out stories with her classmates, playing tennis, and swimming.
Lily intends to use the grant to buy cords and cables for cochlear implants, microphone, batteries and a headset.
